The first picture shows a fly (not too sure which kind) on a four o’clock bloom. When this picture was taken it was still hot in the afternoon and the bloom showed no signs of awakening despite having an attractive visitor:)
Crepe Ginger, a summer bloomer. The papery white blooms attract ants and several bees.
I was surprised to see a single-petalled bloom on my double-petalled hibiscus. This has never happened before. You can see a near-spent bloom in the middle and buds in the darkest shades of red.
I caught one of these these tiny butterflies on the bright blooms of this Jatropha, the Buddha Belly.All these pictures, except the one with the butterfly, was taken in my garden last week. The Jatropha is from my sister’s garden.
I’m away from Guwahati at the moment. I have not been able to comment on some Blogger blogs (one of those laptop woes) but I’ve been reading your blogposts. I’ll surely get back to my usual visits once I’m back home. See you then!

Your photos are spectacular! I don’t like flies, but it’s nice to see so much detail on the ones you took. Love that Budda’s belly – so colourful, and the little butterfly just makes it perfect.
Wendy….although I’ve posted the Buddha belly blooms quite a number of times in the past two years, this is the first time that I actually clicked with a butterfly on it. I do see flies in a different way too—like you say, seeing the details makes all the difference.
Another beautiful post Kanak! It is interesting to see a single-petaled flower on a double-petaled hibiscus. The fly on 4 o’clock bloom is is most probably a green bottle fly, a species of blowfly.

I have double flowers that can turn to single as well… it’s like my Chinese bell flower. Well, I think they just need some rest sometimes he he…

Kanak, my double white hibiscus sometimes gives a single flower. I cut that branch off, so that the doble strain does not get weakened. I love your crepe ginger, which looks like crepe silk.
