Welcome to Today’s Flowers. It’s a beautiful October day here and the temps are cooler now with the recent heavy rains that we’ve had. . I thought my potted plants would start to float in all that deluge!!
My Cypress Vine/Ipomoea quamoclit has just started to bloom. It’s also known as the Star Glory and Hummingbird Vine.
The leaves are fern-like and delicate.
Although I’ve posted the picture of these tiny coral flowers before, I can’t resist doing it again. As I photographed the jasmine, this butterfly from the fabled Blues family alighted on the blooms. The Australian Bottle Plant/Jatropha podagrica is another commonly seen plant in Indian gardens. This jatropha is also known as the Buddha Belly plant.
And my post wouldn’t be complete without including the picture of a much-loved herb of our region. I don’t know what it’s called in English but I know that it belongs to the basil family. The smell is strong and aromatic, and for me, reminiscent of many happy moments shared with family and friends. This picture was taken in my mother’s garden.
