Welcome to Blooming Friday! My “pinch of green” is the Psyche butterfly on the kalanchoe blooms. Or rather, the eyes of the Psyche. Although I have photographed this butterfly a countless number of times, that bit of green on its eyes was never as evident as seen in this photo. I didn’t realize that capturing one of the most commonly seen butterflies would reveal a fact like this!

Beautiful photos Kanak and what a treat to see the butterfly! I miss them so much at this time of year but some of my blogland friends further south have seen the odd one or two in the last few days so maybe it won’t be too much longer 🙂
I enjoyed catching up with your last few posts also and it seemed like you had a very nice day on the banks of the Brahmaputra and also on your visit to Shillong. I particularly liked the first photo on that post, the scenery was breathtaking!
Jan…glad you liked them…thanks! My last post reminded me of your posts…going to a particular area and focusing on the flora and fauna there. By way of fauna, I only got a common bird and a wasp. Not something I hadn’t photographed before. That was a little disappointing. One goes with the hope that something unique might come my way….doesn’t happen all the time.:(
BTW, the first shot in my Shillong post was of Lake Umiam aka Barapani. This is indeed a beautiful area…worth stopping and looking at the sights!

Somehow I allways believed their eyes to be blackish like those of flies. One can see even easier the green colour against that strong red. Beautiful 🙂
Mia…that’s true. I wouldn’t have noticed it ….but for these shots. Glad you liked them.:)
It is always lovely to see butterflies and you need to be up close to see something new. Photos often reveal something you have not noticed before.

Easygardener… I was disappointed that I couldn’t photograph a more colourful butterfly but yes, if I can see something new in a regular backyard insect, it’s worth a shot/a post after all.

Beautiful pictures of the butterfly! It´s fun to see the kalachoe we only have indoors in pots, growing outside at your place. Here we call kalanchoe: `Springfire´and `Autumnglow´. Have a nice weekend

Lisa…it’s interesting to know the names. The red ones in my photo do well here. Although we get them in other colours, this one seems to be the most popular.
Wow! The eye is amazing! No pupil, and so unusual! What a tremendous shot!!!! Something foe me to aspire to this spring. Did you use a zoom lens or a macro?
Ginny, I went very close and used macro. This butterfly is difficult to shoot as it keeps moving about….I think it takes longer to get a shot of this one than of the other butterflies.
