Today’s Flowers/Melastoma

Melastoma near a village pathway in the village of Mawlynnong.

Melastoma…all across the roadsides, in the state of Meghalaya, the flash of pinkish mauve greets you. The melastoma is in full bloom and will do so till  June. The shrub with hairy leaves (underneath) can grow up to 5 mtrs. The flowers grow in clusters.

I’m a day late for this meme but I was away for the weekend, hence the delay. To see more posts on the world’s loveliest blooms, head over to Today’s Flowers.
